As part of the BBC’s WW1 coverage, local radio are doing a series called World War One at Home. We have been working with Jane Chesworth ( Special Projects Producer) form Radio Leeds on two stories as part of the series. The first one about Little Khaki George is to be broadcast in full on BBC Leeds Friday 28 February at 8.15 am.
There is a shortened version on the BBC website available to listen to now.
A second one to be broadcast in April is being recorded in the next few weeks and will feature the claim that local Halifax man, Alfred Bates, is the true originator of the iconic ‘Tin Hat’ worn by British Tommies and other Commonwealth servicemen.
