November Meeting: Britain and Victory in the Great War by Peter Liddle

It’s always a pleasure to have a visit from our patron, Peter Liddle, who gave us a masterful, incisive and thought provoking talk which was a fitting conclusion to the Great War’s Centenary. Much of his talk was based on the book ‘Britain and Victory in the Great War’ (published by Pen and Sword earlier this year) for which he was the editor. The book features a wide range of subjects which include the political, social and cultural consequences of the war and written by a notable line-up of historians.  It forms part of an impressive trilogy which includes ‘Britain goes to War’ and ‘Britain and the Widening war’.
