< Back to Digital Heritage Trails

As early as 1915 people were thinking of how the war dead of Halifax could be commemorated. Bull Green was being cleared of its congested buildings to widen the access roads. The sketch to the right was one early suggestion for the memorial’s location.

In 1914 Bull Green was congested with shops and other small buildings. there was already a redevelopment scheme in place.
