We are very grateful to the Trustees of the Bearder Charity who recently awarded us a grant to extend our access to digitised versions of the local newspapers.
This grant has allowed us to have the Great War issues of the Brighouse Echo digitised. Not only does this extend our own research coverage but it allows the newly formed Brighouse and District Great War Heritage Society to begin their work researching stories for their own activities. Over the last few months we have been working closely with this group to provide training in the use of our newspaper indexing system (NewsCat).
Additionally the funding has allowed us to digitise the all important 1919 issues of the Halifax Courier Weekly which means that we now have digital access to the period 1914-19 for this newspaper.
